With a balanced oleic acid (48%) to linoleic acid (33%) content ratio and comedogenic rating of 0, argan is an amazing oil for all skin types. While best known for conditioning the hair, it’s actually the perfect face oil! Not only does the argan plant help heal and protect skin directly (it’s known in Morocco to treat skin irritations and protect against sun damage) it’s also got the perfect silky texture. Unlike other oils that stay greasy or sticky, argan sinks in quickly for a glowing, dewy finish. Actually a wax ester rather than an oil, you’d think jojoba would be highly occlusive or clog pores. But the opposite is true! Sometimes called “liquid gold,” jojoba oil is has a similar molecular structure to human sebum. It’s great for dissolving hardened sebaceous plugs in pores as well as conditioning and protecting the surface of the skin. Together with argan, jojoba creates the perfect bacterially-balanced reinforcement for your skin’s lipid barrier. One of the most popular skin-healing herbs in natural skincare, calendula is another dynamic, multi-tasking herb. Both hydrating due to fatty acid content and soothing due to anti-inflammatory properties, this is one of the best herbs for evening out the skin tone and keeping fungal acne at bay. Its antimicrobial and anti-fungal qualities help maintain dominance of “good bacteria” on the skin’s surface, encouraging a healthy microbiome.

Known as the herb of the heart, hawthorn is also called the Mayblossom or May tree, and is the plant most associated with May Day in Celtic traditions, which ties into the folklore behind the name MARIAN. When used topically, it’s known for its high vitamin and flavonoid content, giving it antioxidant and skin brightening superpowers.

Comfrey is a powerfully soothing, anti-inflammatory builder of new tissue. Known to aid in cellular regeneration, it also helps cool and protect skin, balance out keratin production, and heal any blemishes or irritation.

Similar to comfrey, plantain is a tissue-regenerating herb. It is also known to draw out impurities or disturbances in the skin’s barrier, like ingrown hairs. It contains many nourishing vitamins and promotes a healthy dermal microbiome.

Known for its calming and soothing properties, chamomile is a happy, floral herb that calms redness. It’s also slightly astringent, meaning it can help to firm and tighten pores. Similar to many of the other herbs in our formulation, it promotes a balanced bacterial climate and can help speed healing of cellular tissue by gently regenerating the epidermis.

Full-spectrum vitamin E oil provides double protection: for your face, and for the fresh plant oils in our formulation! Its high antioxidant content means it's able to keep our oils from oxidizing. It also has properties that help prevent UV damage and reduce the likelihood of cell mutation due to sun exposure.
